Without a doubt, in 2011 the girls have all the best tunes. Wild Flag, the indie supergroup featuring Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss from Sleater-Kinney, Mary Timony from Helium and Rebecca Cole from The Minders has finally released its highly anticipated debut album in America (the European release is next week) and it's everything we have been waiting for: passionate punk-rock songs full of dizzying guitars, wild rhythms and melodies that stick to your brain for weeks. Here's the video for "Romance" plus the title track from the 1999 EP "The Age of Backwards", the fruit of the first collaboration between Carrie Brownstein and Mary Timony as The Spells - just effortless cool:

Wild Flag - Romance

The Spells - The Age of Backwards
